Although some ranching in the Willow Park area dates back to the mid 1800's, the area saw few residents until the 1920's when the highway passed through the area bringing more traffic.  Then, US Hwy 80 in the 1940's, followed by Interstate 20 in 1968 brought even more people to the area. The area has always been a favorite of employees of Convair, then General Dynamics, and now Lockheed-Martin.  With the completion of Weatherford Reservoir in 1957 the area was made more attractive.  El Chico Ranch Estates was one of the first areas to bring more development in the early 60's.
